On 22 June 2012, AIFA (AVIC-International Flight Training Academy) Part 141 Certificate Issuing Ceremony was held in George, Western Cape. High ranking Civil Aviation Administration officials from both Chinese and South African Governments, represented by Mr Tang Weibin and Thabo Fisha respectively, attended the ceremony. The event was also joined by the Executive Mayor of Eden, representative of the Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn and officials from municipalities. Deputy Consul General Tong Defa attended and addressed the ceremony on behalf the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town. The event was covered by local media. 

    AIFA is a pilot training school jointly established by China and South Africa in 2009 and provides cadet pilot training for Chinese airlines taking advantage of excellent South African flight bases and instructors. Its qualification for Part 141 marks an accreditation by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
