Consul General Liang Shugen met and sent his greetings to Prof. Qin Shengyong, the newly appointed Chinese Director of Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Town on 10 November, 2014 in the Consulate.

Accompanied by Prof. Evance Kalula, Director of International Academic Programmes Office of UCT, Prof. Qin briefed Consul General Liang about the Confucius Institute in UCT and its future strategy.

Consul General Liang welcomed Prof. Qin to the beautiful city of Cape Town and praised the positive role the Confucius Institute has played in past in terms of teaching of Chinese language as well as promotion of Chinese culture. Mr. Liang also expressed his hope that, with Prof. Qin as the new director, the Confucius Institute of UCT will flourish and score greater achievement. He also pledged that his office will offer assistance in times of need.
