The Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town Celebrates the Chinese New Year

On 11th February 2015, Consul General Mr. Liang Shugen hosted the Chinese New Year reception at Table Bay Hotel in celebration of the Year of Sheep. Around 300 guests from the National Assembly, provincial legislature and municipal governments of the Eastern, Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces, the Consular Corp in Cape Town and guests from local universities, business as well as Chinese community attended the reception.

Consul General Liang Shugen reviewed in his remarks great achievements China has made in 2014. He highly praised the robust and comprehensive relationship between China and South Africa under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework between the two countries. Mr. Liang also indicated that, with this year as the Year of China in South Africa, he is fully confident that the friendship and mutual understanding between China and South Africa will reach to its new height. Mr. Liang also take the opportunity to extend his best wishes to the People of South Africa on the eve of the State of the Nation Address.He expressed his believe that the South Africa People will make great progress in the course of building South Africa into a strong, democratic and properous conuntry.

In their remarks, Ms M.G. Boroto, House Chairperson of the National Assembly and Mr. Ian Neilson, Executive Deputy Mayor of City of Cape Town extended their warm congratulations over China's great success in 2014. They agreed that China-South Africa relationship is mutual beneficial. The two countries are good partners and friends, working closely in the international affairs and learning from each other in terms of state governance. They look forward to the robust relationship growing even stronger, bringing concrete benefits to the peoples of South Africa and China.
