The China House for Baphumelele Orphanage Unveils

On 1st June 2015, Consul General Mr Liang Shugen attended the handover ceremony of the Baphumelele Orphanage China House donated by South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation. Parliament members from the National Assembly, officials from national, provincial and municipal governments, representatives from local charity groups as well as Chinese community attended the ceremony.

Chinese Ambassador Mr. Tian Xuejun, House Chairperson of the National Assembly Mr. C.T. Frolick, Chairperson of Select Committee on Security and Justice of the National Assembly Mr. Dumisani Ximbi, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ms. Tokozila Xasa, DDG Ms. Conny Nxumalo of department of Social Development, Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town Ms. Patricia de Lille and Chairman of ANC Western Cape Mr. Marius Fransman addressed the audience. They all highly praised South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation for its committed hardwork and contribution in charity activity in local community.They all agreed that this project is a symbol of friendship between the peoples of China and South Africa.

The 2.2 million Rand China House has 9 bedrooms and is equipped with kitchen, dinning hall, small library, office,laundry and washrooms. It will function not only as living place for young adult aged between 18 to 21,but also provides skill training to help them better prepared for future life.
