On the 12th of October, 2015, Consul General Kang Yong had a lunch meeting with Hon Francois Beukman, Chairperson of Portfolio Committee on Police of the National Assembly of South Africa.

Consul General Kang Yong thanked Chairperson Beukman for the kind invitation, and appreciated the efforts by Chairperson Beukman to promote the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and South Africa. Mr Kang expressed his deep concerns on the recent murdur case in China Town Mall in Cape Town, and urged the South African side to take effective steps to bring the criminals to justice.

Mr Beukman welcomed Mr Kang on his assumption of duty in Cape Town. He viewed the current cooperation between South Africa and China as friendly and positively growing. He pledged to offer assistance in dealing with the concerns of the Consulate General and the local Chinese communities.

The two sides exchanged views on social safety, immigration, visa policies, and building of police personnel in South Africa.
