It is shocked and regretful to notice the press release by Inkatha Freedom Party about Taiwan, which is blatantly in defiance of UN resolution and international consensus and is certainly and absolutely opposed by the Chinese government and people. What the IFP has done clearly shows not only the IFP's violation of South Africa's foreign policy commitment, but also the ignorance about the One-China Principle, international relations as well as the world situation.

The press release shows IFP's illiteracy and defiance to UN Resolution. It is universally recognized that there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an integral part of China. The government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China, including Taiwan. This is the One-China Principle and policy, which was enshrined in the UN Resolution 2758 in 1971, and was universally recognized by the international community as an international norm. All members of the UN, including South Africa, are obliged to abide by the UN Resolution and universally recognized international norm.

The One-China Principle is the political premise and foundation of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa. This is a solemn commitment made by the South African government on behalf of its people. It is obliged that all the political parties in South Africa who care for the benefits of its people and authority of the government will honor the political commitment made by their Government.

The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the common dream of all the Chinese in modern history and the irresistible trend of history. The reunification of the mainland and Taiwan is unstoppable and will never be blocked by any anti-China forces. We call on the Taiwan authority to show respect to the history and UN Resolution, and to value the interests of the whole Chinese nation including Taiwanese people, and stop playing shabby tricks.

The irresponsible press release is obviously purchased by Taiwan authority. Any tricks and attempts to jeopardize the historical trends, to challenge the One-China principle, or to promote the so called"Taiwan independence"are doomed to failure.
