Diplomatic/Courtesy/Service Visa Diplomatic/Courtesy/Service Visa are for foreign government officials, the staff of diplomatic missions or the United Nations who intend to travel to China for an official mission or accreditation or transit.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. A diplomatic note from the applicant's government/diplomatic-consular missions/United Nation. 5. If invited by the Chinese governmental departments, a approval of visa notice/ invitation letter/pertinent document from the competent Chinese department is also required.
Reminders: 1.No visa application can be done through post, email. Visa application should be submitted and picked up by the applicant or someone else entrusted. 2. Diplomatic/Courtesy/Service visas are usually waived of fees. If an ordinary visa is issued to a holder of diplomatic/service passport, the visa fee would be charged.

Tourist/Family Visa(L-Visa) Tourist/Family visas are generally issued to applicants who intend to visit China for sightseeing, visiting family or other private purpose.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4.Hotel booking and copy of air ticket. 5. To travel to the Tibet Autonomous Region, an approval notice issued by China Tibet Tourism Bureau is required (E-mail: ttour@public.ls.xz.cn, Tel: 86-891-6836850, fax: 86-891-6834435). Applicants are recommended to join a tour group. Please Contact local travel agency to get travel approval. 6. For foreign mounting team, an approval visa notice from Gen. Bureau of Sports of P.R.China is required. 7. South African Chinese who applies for Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate. 8. The following applicants may apply for multi-entry tourist visas for 12 months: 1) Applicant born in China with the record of visits to China for at least twice in the past year: record of visits is required. 2) Applicant who owns a property in China: copy of certificate of property ownership is required. 3) Applicant born in China who needs to visit China frequently for health care: certificate issued by a doctor is required. 4) Applicant whose spouse, children or parents reside in China: copy of certificate of marriage or relatives is required. 5) Applicant with a record of multi-entry tourist visa: record of multi-entry tourist visas required. 6) Other applicants who were born in China and intend to visit China frequently: necessary supporting document required.

Business/Visitors Visa(F-visa) Business visas are generally issued to applicants who would stay in China less than 6 months for visit/teaching/business/scientific-cultural exchange/conference/ trainee/fieldwork.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. An approval visa notice from authorized Chinese organs. 5. A cover letter from the applicant's company. 6. Hotel booking and copy of air ticket. 7. Applicants who apply for a multi entry visa, must submit one of the following documents: 1) letter from their employer indicating the applicant has the need to visit China frequently within one year. 2) previous multi entry visa record or 2 single entry visa records. 3) letter of invitation from authorized Chinese organs. 4) proof of investment in China or commercial registration/licenses. 5) commercial contract signed with Chinese partner proving the necessity to travel to China multiple times. 8. An approval visa notice from relative Authorized Tibetan Organ for visit/business/scientific exchange in Tibet. 9. South African Chinese who applies for a Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate.

Student Visa(X-visa) Student visas are generally issued to applicants who will perform study/trainee/fieldwork in China for more than 6 months
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. A visa application form for international students (JW-201/202) sealed and filled out by relevant Chinese organs 5. Notification of admission from the receiving university or college. 6.Overseas Chinese students admitted to Jinan University, Overseas Chinese University, or any of the three Chinese linguistic cultural school in Beijing/Kunming/Manning can apply for Student Visa with only the notification of admission from the above-mentioned university/school, not necessary presenting the visa application form for international students(JW-201/202). 7. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner in original and copy. (Download the form ) . 8. South African Chinese who apply for a Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate.

Employment Visa (Z-visa) Employment Visas are generally issued to applicants who stay in China for more than 6 months for work/employement/academic exchange, also applicable to their accompanying family members.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. An approval visa notice from authorized Chinese organs. 5. A Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labor of the P.R.China. 6. Applicants as following do not need to submit the above-mentioned documents of item 4 and 5, but are requested to provide the coincided documentation: 1) Confirmation Letter For Engaged Experts for experts/scholars/teachers/managerial persons engaged to work in China and staff members of the state/local institution. 2) An approval visa notice of authorized Chinese organs and commercial registration for the chief representative or deputy chief representatives of the foreign permanent representing office. 3) A Note/Official letter for applicants working for the non-govermental institution set up by the government accords 4) An approval visa notice and government accord/agreement/project letter for applicants to execute governmental aid/project of technical cooperation according to the accord/agreement/project letter 5) An Expert Confirmation Letter of provincial Foreign Affairs Office for applicants working without any payment or paid by the non-Chinese organs, such as experts/humanitarian 6) An approval letter of Ministry of Culture and visa notice of provincial Foreign Affairs Office for commercial performances. 7) An approval visa notice of provincial Foreign Affairs Office for small group of artists (less than 5 persons), which conduct commercial performances in hotel/restaurant for less than 6 months. 8) An Invitation Letter For Foreigners Engaging In Offshore Oil Drilling of Chinese Sea Oil Petroleum Company for technicians doing offshore oil drilling. 7. The spouse and children of the Z-Visa applicant who will accompany the applicant to stay in China are required to submit an approval visa notice of authorized Chinese organs or a Certificate of relationship in original and copy. 8. Transit Visa (G-visa) Transit visas are generally issued to applicants who intend to travel to another country or region via China.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. A valid visa of the destination country. 5. A travel itinerary or connecting air ticket. 6. South African Chinese who apply for a Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate.

Visas are exempted for aircrew members/passengers who transit China taking airplane and stay at the airport no more than 24 hours. This rule is not applicable to American citizens. 5. Transit visas are indispensable for foreign citizens who transit China getting out of the airport or staying in the airport over 24 hours. 6. Citizens of the following countries in transit of Shanghai can stay in Shanghai for up to 48 hours without applying for visas: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, U.S, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Schengen Treaty Countries.

Resident Correspondent Visa(J-1 visa) Resident Correspondent Visas are usually issued for foreign correspondents resident in China and their accompanying family members.

Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. An approval visa notice from the competent Chinese authorities. 5. The accompanying family members are required to submit a Certificate of relationship/Note/Official Letter. 6. South African Chinese who apply for a Chinese visa with his/her new SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate. 7. A Physical Examination Record for Foreigner in original and copy. (Download the form ) .

A Permanent Residence Confirmation issued by the exit-and-entry division of the municipal or county public security bureau where the applicant intends to reside. 5. South African Chinese who apply for a Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate. 6. A Physical Examination Record for Foreigner in original and copy. (Download the form ) .

Visa for Train Attendants, Air Crew Members and Seamen (C-visa) Visas for Train Attendants/Air Crew Members/Seamen are usually issued to train attendants/aircrew members/ seamen on their duties.
Requirements: 1. One completely filled out Visa Application Form. (Download the form). 2. One recently taken 2X2 in. photo showing entire face and without a hat on. Please stick the photo to the application form. 3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application. 4. The application will be dealt in accordance with the mutual government agreement. An invitation letter from the relevant department of the Chinese Government is required when there is no agreement or when the application is not within the agreement. 5. South African Chinese who apply for a Chinese visa with his/her first SA passport is required to submit his/her previously owned Chinese passport and SA neutralization certificate.
