6. Learn about Chinese visas. 1) Validity of Visa ("Enter Before") means that you may use the visa to enter into China before the date printed on the visa if there is enough number of entries. Visas become invalid and cannot be extended after the date of "Enter Before" even if there are Entries left unused. Chinese visas come into effect on the date of issuance and are generally valid for 3 months, up to 24 months from the date of application. Applicants should arrange the entry date in advance and apply for visas before their departure date. Applicants should apply for the visa before they buy air tickets. Applicants should take all responsibility if they decide to change their journey and the visas become invalid. 2) "Entries" indicated in a visa means the number of entries permitted while visa is valid. Visas become invalid after the applicants have fully used the numbers of entries permitted. Entries permitted cannot be added or changed. Applicants should apply for another visa after that. Visa becomes invalid if it goes beyond the Date of Enter before even if there are some numbers of entries left. 3) "Duration of Each Stay after Entry" means the longest period the applicants are permitted to stay in China. "Duration of Each Stay" is counted from the date of entry. Applicant should apply for an extension of the duration at a local county level Public Security Bureau 30 days before the end of the permitted stay if he or she intends to stay in China longer. Z/J/D/X visa holders should apply for resident permit at a local Public Security Bureau no later than 30 days after they enter into China lest they become an illegal resident.
