From 8 to 11 December 2005, being invited by Western Cape Provincial Government, an 15-people economic and trade promotion delegation, led by Vice Governor of Shandong Province Mr Tingsheng Lin visited  Western Cape Province.

During the visit, Shandong delegation held respective meetings with the Department of Agriculture of Western Cape Province, the Department of Social Services and Poverty Alleviation, Cape Town Municipal Government. MEC for Agriculture Mr Cobus Dowry, the Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town Ms Gawa Samuels warmly welcomed the delegation. They reviewed the friendly co-operation since the two provinces' sistership established in 1998, briefly introduced the current economic development situation and challenges Western Cape faced with, and emphasized their wishes to further strengthen the substantial economic co-operation especially in the field of agricultural technology, importation of improved varieties and personnel training, etc. On 9 December, the Shandong delegation also paid a visit to the Centre for Chinese Study of Stellenbosch University in the afternoon, and attended a welcoming dinner in the evening hosted by MEC for Community Safety Mr Ramatlakane. Consul General of People's Republic of China in Cape Town Mr Weiqiang Shi attended above mentioned functions.

In 9 December, counterpart meetings were also held between some Shandong delegates and Western Cape Investment and Trade Promotion Agency and local companies. In the evening of 10, the signing ceremony of co-operation agreement between Shandong Galaxy Group and Western Cape Kredo Group was held in Radission Hotel. According to the agreement, Kredo Group will invest US 3.7m in Shandong to erect a joint venture of clothing. Vice Governor Mr Tingsheng Lin, Deputy Consul General Ms Hong Yu attended the ceremony.
