|Consul General Kang Yong Paid Working Visit to Eastern Cape|
From 18 to 26 Feb., Consul General Kang Yong paid a fruitful 9-day visit to the Eastern Cape Province. During his visit, Consul General Kang attended the State of the Province Address at the invitation of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, held talks respectively with Mr. Phumulo Masualle, Premier of the Eastern Cape, Ms. Noxolo Kiviet, Speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, Mr. Alfred Mtsi, Mayor of Buffalo City and Mr. Alexander Jordenn, Acting Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay. He also visited the Chinese automobile plant in the Coega Industrial Zone, met with the local SAPS officials and representatives of Chinese communities as well.
Consul Genera Kang Met with Premier Phumulo Masualle
At the official meetings, Consul General Kang and the Eastern Cape government officials at both provincial and municipal levels agreed that there is great potential for cooperation in various fields between China and the Eastern Cape Province. Consul General Kang indicated that the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town will do its part to catalyze the cooperation between the two sides. He also expressed concerns over the crime and safety situation in some parts of Eastern Cape Province and urged the local governments to take concrete measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese enterprises and nationals in this area.
Consul General Kang Met with the Speaker Ms Noxolo Kiviet
During his visits to the Chinese Police Forums in Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Bay, Consul General Kang met with the local SAPS officials and Chinese communities leaders. He called on both sides for closer cooperation to provide a safer environment for the local Chinese communities. Besides, he encouraged the Chinese nationals to follow the local rules and laws, reciprocate societies more and live harmoniously with the local people.
