100th Chinese Export Commodities Fair(CECF) Concluded

The glorious 100th Chinese Export Commodities Fair(CECF) dropped its curtain on Oct.30, 2006.

About 200,000 purchasers from 212 countries and areas attended the event which is an increase of 1.4% compared with 99th Fair. Among them, 1510 were from South Africa. The total trade volume hit a record high of 34.06 billion USD, which surpassed the 99th by 5.7%. The total trade volume with South Africa was 460 million USD.

Chinese Premier WEN Jiabao presented the Opening and Celebrating Ceremony and delivered remarks. According to him, Chinese Export Commodities Fair is a landmark of China's Opening up. It is also an inalienable part of China's Opening up Strategy. He also pointed out that CECF would face more opportunities as China's economy grows. That's why China must carry on with the effort continuously and innovatively. In order to achieve equivalence of import and export and to promote them both, the Chinese government determined to transform CECF into Chinese Import and Export Commodities Fair since 101st.

Other Honorable guests such as Mr. LI Changchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, Ms. WU Yi, Vice Premier, Mr. Zeng Yinquan, Chief Executive of Hongkong SAR and Mr. Ho Houhua, Chief Executive of Macao SAR also attended the ceremony.
